| Haven't done an entry for too long.... don't know where to start. I guess I will just do 10 bullet points of ten random things in my life....(hey, don't yell, bullet points are the only format I know now... you should be glad that I am not attaching a ppt presentation) - Lost my interest in buying during the christmas.... dropped by private sales but didn't even get a single item from LC...strange (to clear your doubt on me becoming depressed -- no.. I still got some shoes and some suits this season, and some good picks I am proud of.... of which, the miu miu patent pumps, the Vivienne Westwood dress, and the Cacharel suit are the top picks)
- Wanting to go to Maldives for CNY, ended up not finding tickets at any sane price. I guess with the quality we want and the money we are willing to pay, it doesn't work on CNY. Tried Hokkaido, Langkawi, Palawan Philippines.... Doesn't work....think might go to Cebu...what a bummer
- A good friend from high school got married on Christmas Eve. Still kind of shell-shocked.... she is not the first one in our cohort but she is a closer one than the previous couples. Happy for her but kind of unwilling to accept that girls who share thoughts about their crushes and first loves are now getting married
- A very close friend got a proposal and she is confused....wondering if "time is running out" is a good reason for marrying someone you are not 100% sure of wanting to spend the rest of your life
- Everyone is moving to work in Japan
well....can't even think of 10 points... maybe 5 is enough for now. | | |
| It's almost 1 am now, and we are still at the client site. You might wonder, why am I writing blog? If I have nothing to do, I should go home, if I have sth to do, I should work. For some reasons, I have so much idle time today. maybe people don't want me to do important things? Maybe I should have volunteered to take up more work after I was done with my part and I haven't? Well, who cares...I am done, my teammates are still working, so I have to stay... Wondering if i should say anything about work....maybe not... afterall, it is a public blog. Baseline is... I don't want to stay at this hour.... I don't want to work, period. | | |
| After officially getting an offer and finishing all the other interviews i have, I am finding life very sweet....no more job search, no more interview, no school, no pressure at all. well, there is a tiny tiny bit of pressure, since I am staffed at the Beijing office (a new office), and I originally was thinking about the shanghai office when I applied. I like Shanghai a bit better, coz weather and food is better there, and the city is more lively. But the preference is not hugh -- Dunno if I should battle for the shanghai office. Beijing could be good too, new office = more opportunities?.... dunno.... well, any input from anyone? Today, a courier company called me at 830am saying that there is a package from the company and asked when they can delivery it to me. So I made a point as to stay home to wait for it. I thought it must be the official documents.... well, well, ended up seeing a small package.....huh?!! it's a congratulations card, a yoga belt and a yoga guide. Huh huh? want me to learn yoga first so that i won't go crazy? or give me the belt so that i can hang myself after i start working?? | | |
| Went to Shanghai for 10 hours yesterday, yeah, 10 hours, for an interview. Personally, I do not mind the short trip at all. Even if they didn't end up hiring me, I earned a free trip....hehhhehehe I've been to SH many many years ago, didn't remember a thing. I have to say, this time, SH surprised me in many ways. First, people were nice and courteous (much much better than shenzhen, at least), and the written English in the airport and everywhere I had seen was actually pretty good, better than a lot of those in Hong Kong I have to say. Well, the English we see in Hong Kong are usually grammatically correct, but sometimes the phrasings are weird; as far as what I had seen in SH, they sounded ok to me. Maybe I didn't expect much in the first place? I still have the image of wrong spellings all around in mainland. Of course, the streets were still a bit dirty. there was no trash or anything on the street (well, there wouldn't be, since i was in the commercial area i suppose), but somehow, everywhere looked really dusty, even the new buildings looked like they were covered in dust.... weird. transportation was still crazy, during my trip from pudong to the city center, the cab driver honked at least once every minute (wonder if he got really strong thumb muscle from the honking), and there was no seat belt at the rear seats. The most scary thing was, I constantly heard some "hollow" sound in the cab, i heard wind blowing and i thought it was the front window.... and when I got off, I realized there was sth wrong with the cab door at my side and it could not be closed completely...... Couple of funny things: When I was checking in for my flight back, there was a cartoon drawing of several crabs at the check-in counter, and it wrote: "do not bring live crabs as your carry-on items"...I can't help laughing to myself right there.... Do people really bring live crabs as carry-ons? so you can bring cooked crabs then? The whole cartoon thing was very funny too. Another thing...I saw an ad of some milk product, and the slogan was "it'll bring you back to the feeling of your first love" huh? huh? I can't help taking a photo of that ad....that was so chessy and silly...... | | |
| another reason to hate my toshiba laptop.... it has a very stupid touchpad.... there is a really confusing and unneccessary shortcut in the touchpad, so if you drag backward or forward on the top portion of the touchpad, it will activate the internet browser's back or forward. For those who are inexperienced, the back shortcut is constantly activated unintentional, while you browse around. I unconsciously tried to avoid this, and after 1 year, the occurance of accidentally pressing back is minimized (but i didn't manage to figure out how it will be activated, just unconsciously learned and reduce its occurance). yet, I said minimized, not eliminated.... today, while I was doing the online numeric assessment from HSBC (which happens to be the same test as the one given by UBS I think), the stupid back function is being activated again. And since the online test is set up not to be backable...I got bumped out of the system before I finished the test. I really cannot tolerate the stupid shortcut anymore, so I go to the user manual, and then online to search for a way to disable the shortcut function on the touchpad. FINALLY...... | | |
